Sakaki is the tallest member of the schoolgirls, and also the quietest of them. Her shyness and soft-spoken manner is in contrast to her physical ability, this athleticism previously putting her at odds with Kagura. Sakaki has an obsession with all things cute, specifically kittens and stuffed animals. This obsession with cute objects and things naturally drew her towards Chiyo-chan, perceived as cutest of the schoolgirls. Though Sakaki is a lover of cats most of them seem to have an aversion to her, specifically a cat named Kamineko who enjoys biting Sakaki whenever he can. Due to her shyness, Sakaki has been seen as “tough” or “strong” by her friends and classmates, with Kaorin having a special romantic infatuation towards Sakaki. This however, goes unnoticed by Sakaki. Though she may be the quietest of the schoolgirls, she is one of the most memorable characters from Azumanga.
